I have been quote $1000 to remove fittings, repair quarter panel, reweld, then refinish inside/outside quarter and beaver panels. I'll probably get a second quote...

Re: Spot Weld Repair at Panel Join

Hi Tim,

Here's a few photos. As you can see, two short cracks have appeared in the external paintwork and they follow an internal spot-welded seam (which runs from the tip of the fin to the boot seal). Despite my previous comment, I'm not really sure if there has been an accident repair (i.e. panel ...

Spot Weld Repair at Panel Join

Hi Guys,

One of the rear panels near my tail light is starting to separate at the join. I suspect there may have been an accident repair before I bought the car and the spot welding was not up to scratch.

I am planning to obtain a quote from a panel beater to repair and repaint. Is it a simple job ...

Re: Ek tow bar

They come up on eBay from time to time.

Alternatively, i have heard that Aranda Towbars (3 stores around Bris) make reproduction towbars to the original fbek design.

I would be interested to know if anyone on the forum has one of these repro towbars and can provide feedback...

Update: someone at Dinkum Autos tells me the entire range of FB standard vehicles had this "plain" style of hubcap.

Wanted - FB Hubcap

Hi All,

I’m looking for a hubcap to match this one from my 1959 Coronet caravan:

http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r640/pharrisson/coronethubcap.jpg

Hubcap diameter is 242mm at the widest point.

According to a 1960 sales brochure, Coronet caravans were fitted with 6.40x13 Holden wheels. I ...

Re: FB-EK Towing Capacity

As Trev says - if the caravan exceeds 750kg, it must be equipped with brakes.
I also read somewhere that a caravan should be limited to 1.5 x vehicle weight (which would mean a van limit of approx 1500kg) - but that probably applies for a modern car.

Re: Badge Advice

My mechanic suggested I could secure the two parts of the broken badge to the panel using existing pins and fix in place with Sicaflex 227 (commonly used to secure mouldings to car panels). Apparently it is messy stuff, so I would need to keep some brake cleaner handy.

Does anyone on the forum have ...

Badge Advice

Any advice for securing panel badges properly? I bought small clips from Rares - supposed to fit over the badge pins inside the panel. However, if the pins are slightly corroded or worn, the clip does not fit tightly and falls off. Hence the badge pops out and becomes prone to damage!!

Brushing ...
