Any advice for securing panel badges properly? I bought small clips from Rares - supposed to fit over the badge pins inside the panel. However, if the pins are slightly corroded or worn, the clip does not fit tightly and falls off. Hence the badge pops out and becomes prone to damage!!
Brushing past the EK front fender, I caught myself on the Special badge and it snapped in two. Any suggestions for repair? I guess I will probably need to replace it. Does anyone have a spare for front right panel?

Re: Badge Advice
My mechanic suggested I could secure the two parts of the broken badge to the panel using existing pins and fix in place with Sicaflex 227 (commonly used to secure mouldings to car panels). Apparently it is messy stuff, so I would need to keep some brake cleaner handy.
Does anyone on the forum have thoughts on this? I think I will probably keep searching for a replacement badge!

Re: Badge Advice
instead of sicaflex which is usually black use some clear silicone, bathroom or building should do the job. use a glove and smear it over the back, not too thick, then hold it in place with masking tape until dry. you've got nothing to lose.

Re: Badge Advice
Don't use silicon! Your panel beater will hate you if it ever needs to be repaired. Silicon will react and cause fish eyes even after cleaning it all off.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
Re: Badge Advice
if he's going to paint it properly he will be sanding the paint off not painting over the existing paint. i've painted cars which had fully siliconed windscreens and never had a problem. tyre shine is more problematic as it can get into the panel joins if your careless with it.Devilrod wrote:Don't use silicon!
