Post by ekdave1962 »

to be honest id be either replacing rusted section or chemical treating it even after sand or soda blasting .
like i said depend on your goal .. but there wont be much change outta 2k for soda blast ..

welcome, mudgroup.
I'm with EKK001 - looks like a prime candidate for a 'ratbox resto' even if it is a little lacking in the moss department :)
Good luck which ever way you decide to go!
cheers jack
ps I'm in Vic, and owned an EK wagon exactly the same colours inside n out, about 35 years ago. Wish I kept it...

update

Post by mudgroup »

where to start... one word.. rust ? though when i close my eyes... it don't look that bad ! will get some pics up to inflict my pain on all of you !

all glass, front doors, front guards, grill, front seats and headlining off/out of the car... rear seats to remove... rear doors... and tailgate to come off... requiring a little more wd40... have been visiting these every night for 2 months with a little spray... motor out this weekend... then off to soda blast or sand blast... still cant get a definitive answer on which best.. anyone ?

moving forward... have local machine shop ready for the grey.. and not 100% set on whats going to happen with that... so any ideas / thoughts would be appreciated.. any tricks ?... also twin carby?.. extractors?

and... i want to join the club.. where can i find a membership form... ?

purchased a few months ago now... after meeting steve and wayne... took off from penrith... and 14hrs later landed back in geelong.... what a road trip.
as i didn't have the skills / patience, the restore got moved on... and couldn't be happier!

It's amazing what a set of whitewalls and hubcaps/wheel trims can do to a car's looks. Nice looking wagon

You're right Cal, what a difference the wheels make. Looks awesome.
I'd rather drive something made of metal, not plastic!
