Grey motor mechanic wanted, Perth Area

Post by benadamson »

Hi Guys
I recently bought an EK wagon after some 10 years of searching and dreaming. Im keen to join the local Perth FB/EK club and get involved.
Hopefully ill post up some pics soon

Ive had some less than satisfying experiences with mechanics recently and want someone who is able to take their time do things right. No major work needed, just an honest bloke who likes the old girls.
Anyone steer me in the right direction please?

Thanks
Ben

Hi guys

Im in Fremantle.

I had Langham Auto engineers, Radium Street Welshpool, play with the timing last week and so far, so good. I am simply hoping to find someone closer to home, however at the end of the day i dont mind going back out to Welshpool.

I would still like to have the carby looked at as there is a bit of a hesitation as i go to take off that is frustrating and means i ride the clutch more than id like to.
In addition to this i find the radiator fluid gets oily/fuely pretty quickly.
Also im not sure if the temp gauge works?

Other than that Tony at Olden Holden has been great. He is repairing my fuel tank next week.

Im still chasing:
a working headlight dimmer mechanism
Good re-chroming service?
Apolthesry/seat re-spring service?
Some info on seltbelt options (none at present), i would like to fit some, at least in the front

Cheers

Hi Ben,

Welcome :) I'm in Coolbellup and have a EK wagon I'm doing up so might be able to help with some things. Re. your carby, the first thing I'd check is your linkages to see if there's any loose play there. Otherwise the plunger might need replacing, and carby kits are realtively cheap from Coventries in Bibra Lake. But it could also be related to your timing and I know I had to advance my dizzy a fair bit to make it run smoother.

There's a wealth of information in this forum so take the time to search around, I'm sure there's some good advice in the Technical section.

Cheers.

Ben for anything 'non WA related' (parts wanted etc) try posting on the national forum rather than 'What's happening in W.A' - you'll to get more results that way. :) :) :)
The only reason for time is so everything dosen't happen at once.

Ben try 'about time spares' on line for small bits like headlight switches etc
As for seat belts buy new ones from Auto One, Malz etc, they cost around the $90 mark per set. You will need some backing plates (unless you can make them yourself) which i know you can buy from 'go gear racing' in osborne park.

Welcome to the forum Ben , there is a place called Seatbelt Solutions in Colin Jamieson Drive in Welshpool, they can reweb or modify belts to your requirements.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Me old mate Blacky lives in the hills and is an honest mechanic of sorts

I would recommend him, although I think he has graduated from grey motors
