Sorry Dave - can't help much with this - I run a totally different system in mine - ummm......

Isn't there some sort of box that fits the side of the distributor - I have only seen this a couple of times - from memory- think there were three leads from it.... but goodness only knows where they go to - I don't....

Anyone got a HX/Z electrical diagram....?

Ok, I just looked at mine and The green wire from the dizzy goes to the Negative, The brown wire from the dizzy goes to the positive, the condenser thingy goes to the positive and the red wire from the loom goes to the positive as-well, if you don't have these colored wires then I'm stuffed if I know   , mine came out of a VC commodore, good luck, Trev 8) .

AH NEWS BREAK

i just traced the 3 wire back in 2 the dash and it turns out 2 where connected to globes and are now assigned temp and oil idiot lights

the 3rd came from the ignition switch and can only got 2 the +ve of the coil along with the +ve and -ve from dizzy so i think thats complete

NOW I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SET THE TIMING FOR ELECTRONIC DIZZYS if its any different to the old points way , obviously ill need a timing light to fine tune but 4 now ill be happy to have it a few degrees off

For timing I was told to get the engine to Top Dead Centre and put the dizzy in facing at number one lead and lock it down, Trev 8) .

fine tune it by slightly turning the dizzy to advance or retard it
do this while the motor is running so you can tune it by ear.
