The "rust free " EK
Got a bit more done this weekend - I have come to the conclusion that the only reason you buy these conversion kits is to get the engineering report for rego .
I have had to modify the steering rack mounts to get the required clearance to make the steering shaft fit around the gearbox and exhaust.
The rack was mounted with the mounting bolts sitting straight up and down , I had to rotate the rack about 15 degrees to get the bottom of the steering shaft to play the game - I have come to the conclusion that it would have been quicker to build this bloody car from scratch than to buy a so called "finished and legal" car.
We shall battle on - stay tuned for the next drama !

I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

thats very interesting, my steering rack is under the rear of my V6 not near the gearbox, your engine must be sitting a good 3-5 inchs forward compared to mine ?Blacky wrote:I have had to modify the steering rack mounts to get the required clearance to make the steering shaft fit around the gearbox and exhaust.

I started with nothing and still have most of it left.
