okay guys, this last weekend i got the engine/ trans out of the car and have removed everything from the engine bay ready for paint.
with me having the new engine black and chrome what colour do you all reckon i should paint the engine bay? i'm painting the car a deep metallic red with a black roof, so i'm not sure if it would look better if the engine bay was painted black or the deep red?
ideas?
thanks, L&K

finally got some more done on the car to show, about time the weather here cleared up enough to get some paint on the old girl so i went for it today. she's now in undercoat and spray putty just to finish off a few minor ripples in a few panels.

EKSPCL: we've decided to take your advice so its going the same red as the exterior, now deciding options for roof colour. gone off the idea of black, thinking either red or pearl white.
LULU: thanks heaps, looks better now than when you guys called over and saw it.
full steam ahead now :D 8)

okay, some more "progress"...... well i think its progress, soon after i bought the car i found it had been badly repaired in the rear end. it had a new lhr quarter put in (crooked i might add) and the gaps for the boot cut with an angle grinder so it looked right. it felt a little strange walking towards the car with the grinder, but i kept telling myself " it will be BETTER after i cut it up a bit" luckily it is.
i'm finally to the stage where i can fit a standard unmolested boot lid with the gaps fairly good, notice the huge gaps from where i cut and flexed the fins outwards.

then the tools of choice to hold it in place till my mig arrives.

been a long time i know, but after kira coming along 10 weeks early life has finally got back to normal enough to get back to the ek.
the back is nearly welded up (just need to straighten the taillights) more was bent than first thought. battery surround is out ready to weld up the drilled out spot welds and smooth up the engine bay (decided to mount the battery in the boot). moving to a house soon which will be great as i'll have a garage big enough and be able to get the car over to port. we're soo sick of having to drive 45 mins just to get to it. apart from the baby Kira is going great, she's home now and growing well. thanks again for the welcome and a damn good chat with the guys and girls in newcastle.

Great news on all fronts. The car, the bubs and the move. What a relief it must be to finally have a place soon, that you can have room for Zippo. Well Done and please say G'Day to the girls for us too.
