Shipping cars interstate - you got a connection?

youd still have more chance of getting it fixed along the way than most modern shit anyway,,id get a permit and drive it just make sure you drive in the day and check all the oils and tyres every stop,,,,,i ran my 30 year old atkinson truck interstate hauling frieght for 7 years and it all ways got home when the new electronic diesels had konked on the side of the road with brain failure

talking of all the shit, at a mates work shop watched him put some heads on a late V6 4wd of some sort, 1/2 an hour or so to put the heads on then basically the rest of the day putting on all the shit, alot of which is over the spark plugs

real smart, prompted me to say how the f#%$k did our old wrecks even run without all that crap

hmm theres a transport permit in qld that says as long as you believe the vehicle can pass a roady and you are going straight to your destination, you can drive it for up to 7 days (you pay by the day - something like 22 bucks a day) all you need is the vin i think. You guys might almost have me sold on this crazy idea. I do love a road trip........

Bought mine site unseen flew up picked it up 1400k trip back with my son who I hadent seen for 6 months a great trip and some memories that will last forever and no rego just a permit do it you wont regret it and as the others have said its been a daily so should be good

I have some cool memories of long runs in old holdens fords and vals and the best ones are the the ones where we broke down/got arrested and had to get ourseves out of the shite

i drove my ek from Coffs Harbour to the blue mountains
about 650 km the day after i got it registed after 9yrs
off the road and it didnt miss a beat

and there is no better feeling then pulling into your driveway
after a long road trip and patting the top of the dashboard and
saying good on you girl you did good

can you get a permit in a state you aren't residing in? Here in perth they last 2 days but you need to give them origin and destination. I could be wrong but didnt the original owner drive it to vic? At least you aren't crossing the desert!! Awesome drive but hate to get stuck on the side of the road there- still I'd take a gamble if permits are doable.

thanks for all the encouragement guys, but ended up getting it shipped. I was considering driving it under a transport permit but decided it would be too hard. Can you imagine how many times I'd get pulled over in this car without plates on the pacific highway?

Also I spoke to the previous owner and he was anti the idea, which was a little concerning but after all the car is 48 years old so I used a friend of a friend and its supposed to be here by the end of this week.

My FB twice in 1400 KMs with no plates and a permit one cause he liked the car and only on the highway Just did the trip from Sydey to Brisvegas in the EK I bought but it was registared glad you got it back
Anyone going the Permit way get it in the state you get the car
