Shipping cars interstate - you got a connection?

Post by RAT138 »

Hey Guys,

Anyone got a hook up to get an Fb wagon (fbombs - which I bought.) from his place in east warburton to the gold coast? Figured someone here knows someone? Wanna get it shipped asap as I'm sure its owner is keen to get it out of the shed and his next project in! :D

when they start building them like that again i will buy a new car of them

Jeez do you think the missus would be peeved if I offered to drive it up instead of going on the plane with her and the kids on Saturday?

I say road trip, I flew to Canberra and drove a car home I'd only looked at, never driven. Best thing I could of done. Still have the little green sucker too and I 'd do it again without thinking twice. You only live oonce may as well make it memorable.

Get a permit and GO!!!!!! Main thing to remember is its not a race and drive it like it IS an old car and you'll be fine. My old EK made the trip, fully loaded with all my mates wordly possesions (clothes, TV, stereo, CDs etc..) didn't miss a beat.

Mine looks far from it now, its showing signs of daily use, but thats a good thing

if it's been a daily driver there should be no probs driving it, my car had been off the road 18 years, i went through the brakes, chucked a motor togeather out of bits'n'peices laying around bought a gearbox give the fuel tank a bit of a clean put it all togeather and drove it 250km got it regoed and drove 250k's home 8) there isn't much that can go wrong with them  didn't it have WA rego tell him to leave it on so you can drive it home, unless yor happy to pay the $1000-$1500 it's prolly gunna cost

Rb has a point, leave it registered, drive it home, then post back the plates.

Worked when i sold rosie, as soon as i got the plates i went to the rta and derigistered it, and they went off and got it registered in their state.

I drove my old bomb 900 km's round trip to the Nationals this year only a week after getting it registered. It hadn't been registered for 20 years prior I'm told. And it's been a reliable daily driver ever since.

Go on, do it!

Be brave!

youd still have more chance of getting it fixed along the way than most modern shit anyway,,id get a permit and drive it just make sure you drive in the day and check all the oils and tyres every stop,,,,,i ran my 30 year old atkinson truck interstate hauling frieght for 7 years and it all ways got home when the new electronic diesels had konked on the side of the road with brain failure

heres my gospel opinion

in simplicity theres reliability

so whats with all the shit in cars today

profit,,,,,,,the mongrels
when they start building them like that again i will buy a new car of them

talking of all the shit, at a mates work shop watched him put some heads on a late V6 4wd of some sort, 1/2 an hour or so to put the heads on then basically the rest of the day putting on all the shit, alot of which is over the spark plugs :? real smart, prompted me to say how the f#%$k did our old wrecks even run without all that crap
