well i feel a great sense of completion now

i know theres more to do, but the majority of its done, basically all thats left is the sump gasket and oil pickup,and some minor accessories etc ...

anyways, i'll let the pictures do the talking...

Mate, looks good, like the colour. How much and where did you get the rocker covers??

rocker covers are kilkenny castings from rarespares .... $300 ... they have a spacer under them which allows adjustable roller rockers etc hense the extra cost over the normal ones ... but it leaves me with plenty of options down the track!

the ute is going to be royal blue .... im not sure if i should go the white roof yet or not, but im thinking i will .... i had an EK Wagon in that colour and loved it, only problem was it was never perfect, either rust or paint chips or something, so im keen to revive it and have it all mint!!

the gold engines are sort of a tradition of mine, i'm also not a big fan of the other options in VHT engine enamel so thats why i went with gold yrs ago and its just stuck

well i thought it was about time to bring this topic back to the first page on the thread list as it was halfway down page 2!! AND to get Malcolm off my back for a while

so anyways, following on from the above posts, engine is all back together and finally got it into the car last tuesday .... thats when this pic was taken.

its slightly progressed from there .... the wiring is all connected back up and the fuel system aswell.

this tuesday (tonight) i was back over there trying to get the engine to come to life .... unfortunately failed however we have now confirmed that the ecu and bcm (body control module) are working ... bcm unlocks/locks the doors and ecu transmits serial data to my laptop ....

fuel pumps are both priming however there is nothing when you try to key it over other than a click from a relay.

i was able to crank it over by means of shorting the starter motor solenoid but thats about as far as we've gotten.

a quick flick through my commodore manuals seems to indicate either an ignition switch issue (it was ceased from the floods) or ecu not getting the right signal from bcm or a dodgy wiring issue.

never the less, progress is progress ..... my aim is to get the engine running and have the car movable for when my shed is built so that shouldn't be too hard a task i hope!

fingers crossed i will have a video of it running before too long! i'm very keen to see the results of my first v6 rebuild!

that Torana will be the last thing on your mind.

Wiring on these things can be so frustrating

to say the least.

well the biggest problem i face is that the entire electrical side of the car was under water so i could be chasing my tail for a while!

but the fact that the computer is talking is a good start and hopefully its just a minor thing.

i dunno if i agree, cause the Torana has a much nicer note and i can drive it .... but don't get me wrong, im keen to hear it fire thats for sure!

well good news .... the engine runs!!!

starter motor relay was clicking but it wasn't transferring power to the start motor ....

one small problem, looks like the rear main seal is leaking, or a rear welsh plug maybe (back of the cam and balance shafts).... so thats something i'll have to look at one day once i get the car here.

the smoke is from the oil that was split on the exhausts

WOOHOOO !!!! finally got council approval back for my new shed ..... im stoked, once i get it done i'll finally be able to get my cars back where i live ... i haven't had them with me since 8th June 07 ....

well its been a month since i posted that i had council approval ... im pleased to say things are slowly but surely progressing .... and this progression is a very satisfying one ... its like a big psychological step forward in the shed

roughly 1.5 weeks time is the soonest i think i'll see the shed bits but hopefully it wont take too long ... anyways i got plenty to do now ... gotta piss off the lattice that will be behind the shed and also build up at the front of the slab and run the conduit down to the house for power etc so hopefully doing all that will take my mind off waiting for the shed kit!

anyways im very stoked ... the ute arrival is drawing nearer!

well i am absolutely stoked .... i'll let the pictures tell the story

still alot of work to go before i'll start much work on the cars but they are now here

i have to finish off the shelves/bench so i can unload some of the bits in the cars but there is daily progress so its all good

its hard to believe in 2 weeks time it will be 1 yr exactly to the day that we got flooded!!!

i wouldn't have said it at the time but the floods is the best thing thats happened to us as far as progressing in life (house and shed etc)!!
