I'd probably lean more toward Sunnytims line of thinking, in that the car needs a run on the road.By that,I don't mean a trip around the block.
May cure the problem, may diminish the problem or may not help at all.Costs nothing but your time and fuel.
If the probs still there, then go looking for the fix.

Check the tension on the inlet manifold bolts. There may be a slight leak there - maybe the gasket is a little on the bad side. Check there is no leak on the vacuum hoses. The easiest way to do this is to disconnect the outlet where it comes off the carby and block this point. Are all carby to manifold , including the one on the lower side of the insulator, gaskets OK?

yeah ive been trying all those thinds and ive got it a lot better has the od backfire now but runs alot smoother did take dissy out and turned it a tooth hear and there which may have helped also been fiddling with carb and it seems much happier
i also agree with the needs driveing under load to free it up
did alreadydo oils and stuff tim and cleaned it inside out when it was apart so it should be happy maybe it was to clean
i floged it around yard and it may have been in the cure
im starting to wonder if it was a sticky intake valve as it sat for 2 and a half years ,,,which cause unburnt fuel in exaust,,, and carby blow back
may have had little corosion on valve face or bit of carbon ,,,,
i think to lean on fuel aswell as dissy maybe a tooth out was abit usure if id jumped a second tooth toleft arfter id tried one to right but it seems happier with my overdose on fiddleing
hope to register it tuesday

You need to make sure the timing is correct. If you don't have a timing light get someone who has one do it. If it is too far advanced there will be pinking on acceleration and if retarded too far it will sluggish with lack of power and overheating. Keep in mind that the points gap will affect the timing. Try and get a service manual if you have not got one. The timing method is explained in the book.
