Thanks heaps guys for all the great support, sometimes its what keeps you going !!!

Unfortunately today wasn't the day for a tick of approval.

So what we have discovered today is that there is not enough pedal travel to accommodate a front circuit failure, I do have some rear brake but not enough to pull the car up in the distance required. I have looked at it tonight and am making some mods to the pedal clevis to obtain the right ratio and travel.
Ironically under normal conditions there is too much rear brake so I have to install an adjustable proportioning valve or smaller rear wheel cylinders to make the brakes comply.
I am a bit annoyed but the damn thing is still too loud with the news mufflers, 101DB ! I think I will just have to bite the bullet and use offset drone killers, that means a new configuration of the x pipe and of course new mufflers.

Everything else passed but the old girl boiled over after testing and the engineers brake machine has died and is being repaired, this may take a week or so !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At this point I am very reluctant to try and drive the car without some testing so it looks like as of today a no show for the nationals ( car only ).
I will still make the voyage in another late model hack, and believe me I will party !!!!!

It’s fighting ya, just going to make it feel that little bit better the day you screw the plates on 😎😎
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Hey Greg, good news is that everything else passed and you now know exactly what to do to get her over the line😁. I'm interested to understand how they determined the brake issue. What does the test involve and how do they test the circuits Independently?

Bugger.

The one-circuit-only tests get done by opening the bleed screws on the other circuit (e.g. test front brakes only = open bleed screws on the back cylinders). Paddock-test, and see if it meets the deceleration time/distance.

I ended up with a brake proportioner too. No room topsides, so it got put under the car next to the chassis rail. Easy enough to cut and plumb in, and the rail is handy to tek-screw to. Engineer was happy to set it during testing, which reminds me I must safety-wire it in position (drilled the holes for the wire, but forgot to wire it after certification).

The muffler saga will drive you nuts. You might be lucky with some restrictive ones (worked for me... just).

Thanks Guys,

I'm actually relieved in some ways as now I can concentrate on getting everything spot on, I was rushing because of the Nats and I still have some bits and pieces to sort overall.(Overheating has got me scratching ???) I hope it turns out to be the heads cause they will be binned and some new alloy ones will go on.

Harv is correct with the description of the brake test only that the front circuit is cracked on the bleed screw to have rear brakes only (Front brakes do 70% of the work). You can do this yourself with a hose connected to the bleed valve and pointing up so the fluid is gravity fed and no air can get in.
In my case we didn't get to the paddock, it was done on the hoist with the engine running in gear, the wheels were still moving slightly with the brake pedal depressed. So what you need to check is that the pedal can depress the booster master all the way and have the master bottom before the pedal hits the floor. The chinkanese booster didn't help as it has a good 10mm travel before it pushes the master cylinder push rod, (Gee I hate Chinese crap).

I have bought a Aeroflow adjustable proportioning valve so that's not to hard to do for the rear to front balance.

Mufflers, are a pain in the neck for sure, I have centre in and out but you can't get any that are quiet enough nor can you get any DB readings from the manufactures as a guide. It really is hit and miss. I would like to use what I have got because it sounds great, I have to do more research with j pipes and resonators or like I said make a new x pipe and put in offset restrictive mufflers. I might just do that I think.

On the flip side to all of this is that everything will be awesome and working correctly once its done and I can now have a holiday without the stress of a car that has no miles on it and possibly breaking down ! I thought about towing it but that creates issues as well, parking at motels, heavy and tiring concentration, Nurioopta is a long way.

Still some hope !!!
Brake pedal Clevis lengthened and adjusted push rod to take out the booster slack. It works ok on the hoist, labours the motor a fair bit before the wheels turn so will be ok !
Brake bias adjuster can go directly where I have joined the rear brake line under the car and on the chassis rail. I will mount it upside down for easy under car adjustment.
Pick up mufflers and tubing Monday and possibly done by Wednesday.
Hopefully the engineers brake testing machine is back and I can get squeezed in !!! You never know !!!!

No good news with the Engineer as his brake test machine is still under repair !
I have done everything he has requested so it’s ready to go, the overheating I think is due to lack of air flow so 2 bigger and higher volume fans have been ordered. I will install them soon.
It looks like the car will wait until I get back from the Nationals.
New triple flow mufflers and resonators in, I wish I had a db meter as the phone one is not accurate.

Neat and functional as ever. Sorry I will have to wait until the Not The Vic Nats next year to see it by the looks, but it will be worth the wait Greg.

I've got one here if you want to borrow it. Not a full professional unit, but was pretty close to the results from the engineer. Ping me an address and I'll post it out.
