Started pulling the front offImagemanaged to snap the heads off both stabiliser dumb iron mounts. Imagesaved one long bumper bolt lol. The grille and stone guard came off with no drama. Drivers bumper iron slightly deformed. Imageeverything else just needs a good clean and polish.

Have to replace passenger dumb ironImageImageI think the driver side is ok

Some more terrific progress the Clay.
She is looking really good and I am looking forward to seeing plates on her.

I have to admit after (still) reading old posts of rebuilds and this one, that these cars suffered so badly with rust & corrosion.
It is almost like the old joke “they come standard with rust from the factory” isnt actually a joke. It’s fair dinkum.

I am amazed that the cars were still driving happily around, without any dramas, with the front end literally hanging in by a thread.

Has anyone seen a roadgoing FB / EK break in half or the front end comeaway from the body shell?

The WW Stromberg carb I bought appears to be from a 253ImageThe butterflies have some rust but it is all there at least. The current carb isn’t atomising very nicely on throttle blip. Rather than bother with it I thought I would overhaul the Wws, so I’ve ordered a kit. I probably should have just gone to car parts plus.

Trying different wheels on the front. Got a pair of seven inch jelly beans with 4” backspace. They clear the tie rod end but still foul the upper control arm on turn in. Tried the six inch chromes off my old sedan no problem. Rafferty polished up a hubcap to try on.Image

Bloody hell Clay, looks like you're in the same boat as me, and many others before us. Gonna be a little longer before we're back on the road.

It isn’t that bad compared to the van. Firewall needs a cleanup and patch. Subframe skirt will be a bit more work. Just a pain that I have to split it.
