Door jamb/dome light switches

Post by Harv »

Looking for a pair of FB/EK door switches. The ones I am thinking of are a steel cylinder, with a light spring and black plastic button. They normally live on the front door jambs, and activate the dome light.

I decided to put switches into the rear doors of my EK wagon project... thought I had plenty of spare switches, but can't find any in the spare parts department. Holes are drilled, wiring run, but no switchies.

Happy to pay reasonable costs and postage.

Cheers,
Harv

harv, these can be had new from rares, but i think about $40 each... if you can't find any in reasonable knick...

i can have a look through the parts bin next weekend if you haven't found any buy then, but they are likely to be in rough shape

Common fit EK to HZ at least for the smaller ones. Never paid for one as they are generally prolific in the wrecking yards I have been known to frequent. A bit of a rub with emery paper and splice in to loom.

I remember my mate had fitted pivoting arms with self tappers to his HR wagon. These could be turned to cover the door switch so the lights didn't come on when the door was open.

I can see these ones at Rares:
http://www.rarespares.net.au/rarespares ... uct=SW2030
I'm guessing these are the "big hole" ones - when you look at the door jamb, you see the black button, but also the steel surround.

The ones I am after must be the "small hole" ones. When they are installed, all you can see is the black button (and a tiny rim of steel surround). If it helps, they fit into a hole of about 9mm diameter.

If anyone has a pair, it would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Yes the FB ones. Not nearly as common.

You should be able to get a pair of the EK ones off a HQ-J-X-Z at the local wreckers for a few bills.

Later type has a flat head?Image

I should have some here but can't find a matching pair. Can't even find the ones out of my 215 sedan, retro fitted back in the 80s.

You probably want to match the front ones Harv.

Looms from EK special, standard and van and FB standard. All the wire is brittle and oxidised.
