EK Holden Project Perth W.A
Re: EK Holden Project Perth W.A
So this weekend has involved stripping interior, removing tow hitch, removing rear bumper and tail lights and removed the radiator.
Radiator out but unfortunately the support bracket will require a bit more persuasion with a couple screws to remove. So removing the interior has revealed some lovely Iron Oxide in the rear floors as well, so looks like I'll be up for all new floor.
Hopefully I'm not posting too many photos for you all haha.

Re: EK Holden Project Perth W.A
So another update, today I spoke to Department of Transport about modifications and I've started the paperwork required for modification approval. Extremely lengthy and to be honest a bit bullsh!t but I'm progressing through the 12 pages. So currently on the mod sheet (dream sheet haha) is as follows:
Engine: 350 SBC
Trans: T56
Diff: Borg Warner LSD
Front Suspension: CRS IFS Kit
Steering: CRS IFS Kit Front Mount Rack and Pinion
Front Brakes: CRS IFS Kit Disc Brakes
Rear Suspension: .... not sure about this yet. Maybe 4 Link?
Rear Brakes: Disc Brakes
Tyres: Not sure maybe something around a 235/50
Rims: Hopefully 17"
Obviously the T56 will involve the installation of a larger trans tunnel, hopefully I will be able to work out a way to keep the front bench seat and attempt to make the transmission look "factory". Otherwise I'll track down a set of buckets and get a centre console. I am open to recommendations/suggestions regarding any of the above.

Waddingtons in Castlemaine (and CRS for that matter) sell a bigger tunnel that allows you to run factory auto carpet and bench. Its big enough for a t700 so should clear the T56. The tunnels occasionally pop up on eBay or you can get them direct.d1ll1g4f wrote:Obviously the T56 will involve the installation of a larger trans tunnel, hopefully I will be able to work out a way to keep the front bench seat and attempt to make the transmission look "factory". Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

George from Alien retro's does an awesome job on the steering conversions and front end set up. Just out of Bendigo.

Ah excellent I was hoping that the aftermarket tunnel would allow factory carpet and bench. On a side note I believe Waddingtons now own CRS.Devilrod wrote:Waddingtons in Castlemaine (and CRS for that matter) sell a bigger tunnel that allows you to run factory auto carpet and bench. Cheers Mate I'll look into his work because I'll need a collapsible column if I get approval for the 350ci.the rocket wrote:George from Alien retro's does an awesome job on the steering conversions and front end set up. Just out of Bendigo.

Got one in mine. Easiest way to do it. Have a look in the thread "its almost done well 90%.." and you'll see some pics.d1ll1g4f wrote: Ah excellent I was hoping that the aftermarket tunnel would allow factory carpet and bench. On a side note I believe Waddingtons now own CRS.

Cheers Ken I'll PM you now.
Yeh it seems that even going up to a 161 you have to do all the safety mods required by depart of transport, bit ridiculous, even if you go up to a factory 202 does the car really need shit like two speed wipers.Blacky wrote:You will need one even if you are going to jam a 161 in it mate .................d1ll1g4f wrote: Cheers Mate I'll look into his work because I'll need a collapsible column if I get approval for the 350ci.

Re: EK Holden Project Perth W.A
Mate I know mods are everyone's own choice but do a bit of research on the steering rack setup you want to do I don't like the front mounted rack does have some issues but like I said your choice other members my also be able to provide some pros and cons.

Re: EK Holden Project Perth W.A
Been away from Home for the last week so haven't done anything on the EK. However while I've been away been using the time to research the steering setup amongst other things. Now planning on rear mounted rack if I upgrade motor. However this really leads me to my dilemma, whether or not to build as original. Can anyone shed some light on the resale value of original versus modified (not that I anticipate selling the car)?

Original = best resale
Modified = most fun
There's your choice.. good luck.

Re: EK Holden Project Perth W.A
So an update on the progress. Engine and Transmission are now out of the car. Guards and grille will be pulled off either tomorrow or next weekend. Getting closer to being able to blast it. Having seen the state of the motor and trans, they look in good condition so thinking about building to original. Only downside to building an original car is I don't really like Wedgewood Blue haha.
In regards to blasting does anyone in Perth have the gear to blast and prime and space to do it? Oh and if anyone wants to come and take a look in person your welcome to, just send me a p.m.
