EK Holden Project Perth W.A

Post by d1ll1g4f »

Hi All,

Been wanting a car project for a while and just picked up this EK Holden Special Today. As you can see its been molested a bit with FB parts, after a bit of work on it today I have discovered it has an FB K Frame as well as the FB panels and grill.

Here is the ID Plate.

Based on this if I'm reading correctly it was Wedgewood Blue with Snowcrest White Roof. Interesting finding considering Wedgewood Blue is a 1960 colour and Snowcrest White is a 1961 colour. And the interior was originally Viscount and Zenith Blue.

Yeh the A Pillar on the drivers side unfortunately will require some work, although touch wood so far the only other major rust damage is a little in the driver sill and the bottom of the doors. I thought I had a better picture of the passenger A Pillar but this is all I've got but not as bad as the drivers side.

Welcome to the forum dude, looks like you've got a few hours of fun ahead of you.

Check out the WA FB / EK club post in the 'What's happening in WA' section. Might help you out with the build, if not it will just give you an excuse to drink beer at Blacky's place.
Cheers

Haha cheers mate, I will probably need quite a bit of assistance along the way with different questions. Well speaking of Beer , I might need to organise to put on a BBQ and Beers at my place and request some help to speed up the deconstruction haha.

That's cool, just come along to our next meeting at Blacky's on May 24. (flick him a PM for the details). We're in the throws of organising a few spanner days to help members out with their builds now that things are quietening down for winter on the show front.
Cheers

So did a bit more today, removed a lot of the interior to reveal rust in the front floors.

The rear floor still has a bit of lining on it but thankfully doesn't look too bad.

So far the Bonnet, Boot Lid, Front Doors and the Bench part of the rear seat have been removed. The trim on the inside of the doors has been removed (which crumbled in my hands). The spare engine and transmission have been lifted out of the back seat of the car. Hoping to remove the rest of the seats, bumpers, guards and radiator next weekend so that I can pull the motor and transmission the weekend after. Also can any advise on what is the best way to remove all the chrome strips down the sides?

Really? My knowledge on the interior of the two is limited. What was the difference between the EK and FB surround and horn? I actually have a spare surround so it'll be interesting to see if that's FB or EK.

I had a look through the paperwork I found in the car and the registration plate was KPJ 564 and it had your brothers name on it. Most recent licence paperwork that was in the car has it registered until 1982. Was good to find out a bit of history on the car!
