I spoke to Stewart last night,
His car seems to have sheared a crank key allowing the timing gear to shift
Poor bugger :(
The nationals was just part of a road trip holiday he was doing with his family.
He is continuing on with a hire car.

It was the same problem Cal,
It was repaired, but it hasn't lasted it appears.

a quick post...yep FB failed at Shep...no power in low gear, stalling, no idle. Same thing happened on the way back from Bendigo. Thank goodness for NRMA premium cover...I was on my way 3 hours later.

I think you're right Thommo.

Arrived Mt Gambier last night.

Spoke to Roger last night who offered me their FB sedan for the weekend which I gratefully accepted - incredible generosity! Thank you!!!

 a possible candidate for sure Blacky.

Headiing off now to explore Mt Gambier... 8)

Sorry to hear the FB has had that same problem Stewart..but it's good to see nice folk like Roger & Lesley can lend a hand with a fine ride to get around Mt Gambia with.
At least next year you'll have the 'Old Timer' as a back up.
