Yep, if it's doing it in a driveway, then suspension creak is ruled out. If it does it when you move the carb but not the linkages, then definitely not linkages.
Looks like it's somewhere in the engine - anywhere from carb through to exhaust. An intermittant click is going to be hard to track down though. Try getting one person to oeprate the throttle whilst the other person moves around the car to pinpoint exactly where the noise is coming from (hearing the click from several different places makes a big difference in where you think it's coming from... kinda like triangulation).
Some simple checks:
a) look at each of the engine mounts and make sure they are OK (not busted and moving excessively when the engine torques).
b) check the full length of the exhaust (manifold to tailpipe) looking for anywhere it could be moving under load, rubbing, or where hangers are busted (my FB has one hanger with a rubber donut in it... when the donut wears out, it becomes a metal-to-metal hanger... don't ask how I know

).
c) check all the ancilliaries (carb, manifold, fuel pump etc) are not loose and moving.
