I have a trimatic auto with a floor shift behind a red motor in an EK sedan (originally column manual) I'm wanting to move the interior back to original and put in the old bench seat. Is it possible to change the shifter to the column and if so - how??
Do I need to change the steering column to an auto and is it possible to get this type of linkage ??
awesome!! thanks guys. Great tip with the compatible columns Trev - good to know.
excuse my ignorance, but just so I have it clear in the old melon
1. if I get an auto column out of say a HR - do you change the whole thing right down to the steering box? and if so does the HR steering box attach straight onto the EK drag link??
2. does the orginal EK steering wheel go straight on to the new HR column??
You also need to check that your trimatic has the shift arm on the drivers side - if its a later one on the passengers side of the box then its going to make life harder for you.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

ive got a HR auto column in my ek sedan and a ek steering wheel
wont fit on it
the HR column is quite a bit shorter and takes the wheel away from your face and chest
wich is a good thing
also the bolt holes in the sub frame need to be filed out slightly to line up with the holes on the sterring column
thanks Jay, am really wanting to keep the original steering wheel so good info to know - am now trying to locate an original auto column from EK & go from there
