Grey motor queries in Perth

Post by Jason »

G'day Fellas,

Does anyone know of or recommend somewhere in Perth that:

a) I can take my grey motor block, cam, crank for some advise and a possible bore / hone.

b) purchase a rebuild kit (bearings, rings, pistons, gaskets etc).

c) I can take the head for advise & an unleaded conversion.

I'd rather pay a bit extra to someone that enjoys these cars, offers sound advice, takes there time and will do a good job.

Is there such a person or am I just dreaming?

Cheers

Favazzo's around Fremantle somewhere.
It is now owned by a non Favazzo, but one of the original owners is still there and he used to do a lot of work like that. He was doing mine, until I decided to do a red motor.

Just going through same process with mine. Have found Wade Cams in Melbourne will re profile your cam for $135. Tell them what you are doing to the rest of the engine and they will give you a cam to suit. Have seen gasket sets and water pumps on ebay. Am looking at a few alternatives re maching at present. When I come up with a good one I will let you know. Steve

Try Ray Abbott at 18 Rio St Bayswater , 92724566 for head work , he is as mad as a cut snake but has been playing with these motors since they raced 'em in the '50s.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Not sure if he is still operating but try Classic & Performance Engineering, 38 Gillam Drive, Kelmscott 9495 1445.
Its one of those places where there's shit everywhere - did our Escort a while ago & very reasonable but not as quick as most.
The only reason for time is so everything dosen't happen at once.
If Macca's home delivered there'd be one less drunk on the road.
