Exchange clutch supplier - Brisbane

Post by strogger »

Hi Team,
Just a brief note on a supplier in Brisbane who can do an exchange clutch kit for Grey Motor powered FB/EK's.

1 Business day turn-a-round and I was quoted $210.00
(Cheaper than the Ebay dude and no frieght.)

Action Mechanical Services - 490 Nudgee Rd, Hendra
#(07) 3268 6888

All they need is your pressure plate in rebuildable condition.. (worn but not totally u/s.)..

I am getting mine done shortly, so will advise on out come.

Strogger, aren't you better off going for a red motor clutch?

Much cheaper, and longer lasting

Cal,
I've missed something here?
Does they Red motor clutch kit fit the Grey??

If they do, then hell yeah, I most certainly would be better off..
Let me know please (And which of the Red family to use. 138, 149, etc.)

Thanks..A.

Sorry Strogger, I forgot all about this thread

When I had my clutch replaced some months ago (by Dr. Terry), he put in a red motor clutch. As far as I know if bolts straight on :?

 Yep, the EH clutch as Rob ( fb cruisin ) said, is the one to use.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

What exactly do you need to install the EH clutch into the crash grey 'box? Just the disc or the whole assembly (disc, pressure plate, etc)?

Thanks Peter. Just had a look on EvilPay- EH kits are $145 from the Ebay store "Sunbury Brakes Online", plus $18.95 Registered Parcel Post. This is cheaper than the $220 exchange for the grey motor kit by the other Ebay store "Straightline Performance".

Also cheaper than the $210 strogger was quoted.

Yeah, they are much cheaper than the Grey motor clutches.

I'm not sure if there's any minor mods that need doing tp fit the red clutch to a grey..........I'm positive mine was a straight install

They are a straight swap, no mods needed.
I would have the flywheel machined, because the grey motor clutch is 8 inches and an early red clutch is 8.5 inches so the mount face is larger.

Thanks FB cruisin. :D Yet again, the forum has taught me something new. I will definitely use a red motor clutch in my project now... the larger size should work well with a sports grey...

Excellent! We are going to replace the clutch in the EK because its bloody horrible! Saw the $220 Exchange clutch on ebay for the Grey's but if the EH Red motor clutch bolts straight up its a big saving.. Thanks fellas!!

Hey all,
i also am going to be replacing my clutch soon so will definitely be taking this EH clutch option, but as i'm a bit of a mechanical novice some of the things mentioned here aren't quite making sense.
Could someone explain how and why the flywheel needs to be machined? If the grey clutch is 8 inch and the red is 8.5 that sounds to me like the grey flywheel is already too small, but like i said i'm a novice so i'm probably missing something.
Thanks,
Ryan
