bit of a brain teaser for you all

Post by EKjimmy »

so my EK is making a funny noise under fairly hard (but not ridiculously hard) braking. i can't find anything loose that may be making the noise due to inertia, so i guess it MIGHT be the brakes themselves-ill attempt to explain the noise...
just picture this lovely scene
cruising along, a red light comes on and you need to brake slightly harder than usual to make sure u stop before the magic line.
brakes on, and a strange sound comes from the front of the car.
sounds something like a large spring under alot of tension (similar to a trampoline spring making that groaning noise) and that spring is maybe rattling on something as well....
best of luck to you all, coz i sure as hell cant figure it out.
chances are its time to reco the drums anyway

Can you make out where the noise is coming from? Under the car, the front, the back, inside, under the dash? any other clues? Trev 8) .

got it, one of the fan blades was bent just enough to hit the radiator, and not enough for me to notice it without a closer look. problem solved. feel a bit silly for not figuring it out sooner
