where did you get your rooflining done? (Sydney)

Post by CHO576 »

Has anyone here in Sydney had their rooflining replaced recently?

Mine (FB special sedan) is ripped/torn in places, and in need of a new one. I've heard that there are some guys down in Melbourne supplying some decent hoodlining material, so I think that I have that side of things sorted.

What I do need to find, is someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to replacing an FB/EK rooflining. It doesnt seem like an easy job ? ...

I guess you need to pop the windows out ... so, can you re-use your rubbers there? or need to purchase new ones?

What did it cost you all up? Any tricks or tips to look out for. Were you happy with the result ? ....

Cheers
Jamie.

P.S. I did see the 'sticky' about how to do a hoodlining yourself. I'm not ready to attempt that - dont want to ruin my ol' girl! Looking for a professional to give her the appropriate care and attention...

Just got my roof lining done Jamie.

Unfortunately however my windows were already out, without rubbers fitted after being resprayed. It cost me $400 to have the roof lining made in suede and have it fitted. My original roof bows ? bands whatever the technical name is (the metal which pitches the shape inside) were in perfect nick as were the holes they fit in to. The trimmer used my old roof lining as a template and made it in shop, then came out and installed it.

$400 sounds pretty reasonable.

So you still have to put the windscreens back in yourself? (or was that included in the $400 as well)

- I've heard that part can be a bit tricky to get right ... getting the screen, rubber and rooflining to all sit nicely.

Had the glass fitted professionally.

It didnt look like a fun job, and this guy did it for a living, took close to 3 hours. Had trouble as the rubbers were brand new and really tight.

Expect a shitload of black sealant crap all over your car !!! Cost me $200 for the front and rear screens fitted with the stainless installed. I provided the rubbers.
