I have thought about doing this with my red motored EK a few times, especially when going to nationals with grey powered cars and every time we fill up I'm putting in $30 to $40 and they squeeze in $20  , and they have no trouble keeping a cracking pace  .
Dave, what injected motor have you got? Trev 8) .

Dave this is a very interesting discussion.

What prompted you to want to go back to the grey ?
One main reason or several ?

Also on Trev's comment, does anyone know the fuel consumption figures for a grey and say a 186 Red ?

finny the ek was my everday driver for a bout 6 years
so the disc brake an engine upgrade was good and i always drove it like i stole it :D
it still is good but i dont drive it anymore :( i havnt driven it since we got back from the nats, its just sitting under the carport being neglected :( :(

so im going to turn it back to orig grey motor king pin front end chassis
rails are coming out welding a auto floor hump in to it battery out of the boot and back in the engine bay and the list goes on
few quick rust repairs and freshen up the paint

then i can put it on historic reg $120 a year and use it 90 days a year 8)
thats far more days than i use it now

and trev your spot on with fuel cost and the grey motors will keep up with the traffic flow and speed limits as we found out with thommos car on the way to the nats :D he left me behind a few times
i reccon i was putting about $10 more im my tank than thommo every fuel stop on the way to bendigo,to me it wasnt a issue though

so the ek is in the shed now motor and front end will be out and off on the weekend 8) 8)
