Enginee bay photos

Post by SHREK72 »

Today I tried to start my vehicle for what I am led to believe is 7 years. I only bought it recently and are having all sorts of problems.

Does someone have a photo of the linkage setup to the carby as mine just does not work. Last person who owned it had wire controlling the throttle and I don't think that is original. Mine just won't start.

Also it has a massive spark running from the craby to the firewall. Any ideas as to why??

Had the car for 2 months and not being able to start it is killing me.

As always thanks for your help.

The spark is the motor earthing out on the body through the linkage, what you need is an earth from the battery to the body to stop this, Trev 8) .

Shrek,
As Trev said "what you need is an earth from the battery to the body to stop this, Trev" ...... BUT, before you take it to an auto elec', check the earth to the motor, the motor should be well earthed otherwise it will not run (good size earth cable from motor to body.... same size as a battery earth would be good).

Carby link should not stop it starting, have a mate "pump" the carb a couple of times and she should fire up.

As a guide: Ignition, Fuel, Air..............
1/ You need spark ....... you have this (although it might be travelling the wrong way - due to bad engine earth)
2/ Fuel, are the carby jets blocked? can you smell fuel when you pump the carby?
3/ Air, very are that the air filter is that blocked that a motor wont at least start ....
