Grey motor oil filter

Post by TINAS TOPLESS TWO DOOR FB »

Hi there, has anyone ever made a remote oil filter like early slant 6 valiants had for the old grey?
Maybe using the $3.99 red motor oil filter.

Hi Tina. I'm struggling with the memory to remember the old slant 6 Valiant.Haven't seen one for ages.It wouldn't be impossible to make a remote oil filter useing a red motor oil filter and it would be a lot cheaper, cleaner and easier to replace than the element type NASCO remote bypass filter.Probably wouldn't be able to make it a full flow filter though. It would probably have to be a bypass filter system still.Parts to make it would be available in rod shops/speed shops I'm sure.
Someones done it I'll bet!

Terry.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

There is a remote oil filter that is sold to fit 350s in ski boats, it actually screws on in place of the old filter then pipes up to a remote filter. I can see no reason why you could not just screw the hoses straight into your grey instead of the adapter plate that they come with. You may need to fit some type of restrictor maybe? I have sen a couple of these on ebay recently.

Also, lots of trucks have remote filters and other diesels in boats so I rekon if you went to a filter place and asked they would probably have something suitable. As you can guess i have often though about this myself but done nothing about it.

I have also wondered whether you could bolt a laser cut adapter plate onto the front of a grey that allowed you to fit a $15 red motor water pump instead of a $115 grey motor one

ive seen a red motor unit fitted to a grey. looked quite basic-the guy fited an electric fuel pump and made an adaptor to bolt there the fuel pump usually goes. looked pretty good :)
