SPRING SADDLE FOR DIFF SWAP

Post by FCOV6 »

Can someone tell what the width of the saddle needs to be, want to get some steel to make them and without having the car in the same suburb i cant just go out and measure ? Will get some RHS probably 100x100mm ?and split it using each half as a saddle.

thanks,
Nick.

If it's the diff saddle measurements your after I've just measured one from a grey diff assembly that I have out of a car.

It's 2 11/16th inch wide ( 68 mm ) x 4 1/2 inch long ( 104 mm ) with the centre bolt location hole diameter of 11/16th inch ( 23.5 mm ).

The original diff saddle is pressed metal and has an outside radius. The flat section bolt up face is 2 5/16th inch wide ( 59mm ) with same length measurements as above ie:- 104 mm etc.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

Thanks mate, much appreciated, do you think 75mm RHS would be ok - i'm not sure what the spacing is for the U bolts in the shock plate are.

The inside spacing between the u bolts would be a few mm wider than the width of the saddle as the u bolts slip alongside the saddle when the diff/spring assembly is bolted together.

I've got an original FB/EK spring saddle in the shed so will go up and measure the saddle bolt hole specs and let you know later on tonight.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.
