Ive got a nice rust free sedan that I want to make into a rag-top and %100 legal in QLD .I know that they have been done before so any help would be appreciated, if anyone can point me in the right direction cool.Im a realist and know that there is going to be engineering approvals,its going to be a long term project but I want to do it.If its too hard to do then maybe Ill give up,, cheers.

There is,or was, a forum member by the name of "Tinas Topless Two Door " or someting like that..... anyway,they had a nice 2 door FB convertable although this member hasn't been on the forum for a looooong time that I can remember,probably a couple of years now.

I can't find anything on the car via search of the forum??

First thing you must do is contact the machinery department, get the contact list for engineers they work in with. and will accept their reports.

Speak to the engineer, make sure that you ask and find out if they have previous experience with doing this type of conversion.

You may have to submit a permission to build aplication, with all the information about how you will go about doing all the work required.
Your engineer will work in with you on this.

Dont start anything till you have official approval paperwork.

Doing it this way you are covering all the aspects of legal registration

A bit of work in the beginning but a lot easier when its time to get your number plates, and insurance.

i've also done one but that was in NSW so QLD and the specific engineer you speek to may be completely different

don't matter how good it is cut it up

it's yor car seen one stock/restored car you've seen 'em all

Well Ive spoken to QLD transport and got the names of some engineers I need LH1 and LH2 and also have to supply plans and form F1854 will give one of them a buzz in the new year

MJ it's the best way to do it, speak to the people that will be giving you yor rego

not everybody that has an idea or opinion

that's normally the best judge of a going to do or a gunna do, take the propper steps and ask the right people

Better to ask first and get the yay or neigh ( yes or no ) than to take the time and expence in building something only to find that the rego authorities won't allow it to be driven on the roads.

They can make or break your dreams

Otherwise it may just become an expensive trailer queen

I want them to say yey, anything is possible ,Thanks for your comments, gee wizz Tinas 2 door what a machine I could drive that for the rest of my life.Im pretty sure that Ive got it mapped out in my head and Im thinking a two door would be more of a solid structure ,however the doors in the back would be handy as I have five boys .. ,then the pillar strength

Lets not go there again.

5 Boys!, what would you build if you had 5 girls?

Would love to build a factory looking Convertable, but have to many other concepts on the must do list before that one.
For me it would need wind up side glass and a folding top. And be slightly chopped so the proportions balanced

I have a 2 door Galaxy in the shop now, with a soft top electric/hydraulic roof. Would look absolutely awesome on EK 2door.
