hi guys just took the ute into pedders get a wheel alignment done only to be told they did'nt want to do it 'cause my tie rod ends are shot as are the upper outer pivots ... alright , fair enough ! they qouted me like $ 638 for the pivots work and plus this and that all up at $ 871 .. is this way pricey or usual the price for this kinda work ?
Does anyone know of a good place in central victoria that may be able to do the work at a better price and do a more trusted job ?
'can't wait to get the roadworthy stuff done and get down to some criusing.

front end advice ?
Pivots are about $55 dollars or so each to buy and pretty easy to replace at home with a Gregory's workshop manual to guide you.
Tie rod ends probably a little cheaper each. Also do-able at home with the above manual to guide you.
Will need the wheel alignment obviously after that but it sounds like the labour cost they've quoted is a bit on the high side going by what you say.

I can't think what to write here so this will do.
Going by FB mads price's me thinks they didn't really want to do it or are having a slow week cash flow wise
Tie rods can be picked up anywhere ie Supercheap, Repco, Autobarn etc... I think for around $20 each it, was 2 years ago since I bought mine just can't quite remember exactly how much....

Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
Do it yourself or if your not comfortable, get a second quote.
Learnt a lesson in my younger days, with a simple wheel alignment that ended up with a full rack replacement on a Holden Sunbird (I didn't know any better and it looked like a Torana). Rack cost the same amount as the car.
It never went any faster or drove any better, and was still a peice on rubbish. I was ripped off, I didn't need a new rack, but sales were slow and I was an easy target. (Back then)
Lost a lot of money on that one.

thats a joke ... especially being the upper inners they are pretty easy to do compared to the lower inners!
i'd generally prefer to go to a place near me that is a steering and suspension specialist and tend to 'steer' clear of the places like pedders and bridgestone etc as i never seem to hear much positive stuff about them and the place i go to has been in the industry for decades with good service and price ....
i know this might not help you but i'd be shopping around .....
