No real tricks, but the only "sure-fire" way is to re-trim.
Vinyl over time loses what are called platicisers which makes it brittle, there is no way to replace these.

If they just need a good clean,
1. Start with warm soapy water and a cloth
2. Tougher dirt a bit of bicarb and water mixed into a paste.
3. For really tough stuff try using a little white spirits on a cloth.

as a detailer we use whatever detergent based cleaners our detailing products suppliers stock and use white spirts on grease or oil spots, to get in the grain i use a soft nail brush, if you spray a detergent cleaner on the upright swab spray from the bottom up to reduce streaking, dont use a muddy wet soggy dirty rag, it will just drop mud back into the grain and dry dirty again, keep changing the rag.

the good book says to use Dissol for heavy stains - think you can still get it - think I saw some at Autobarn..

Vinyl is a pain in the ****!@#% - especlly when hot (boom boom)..

I just use interior detailer - thik it's mothers or megiars - have to check the shed - it works fine - whatever you use - if its got wax in it - make sure your seat belt is on and all the other passengers..

Before we had to have seat belts - polishin the seat was a clever way to get a new date to "snuggle over"..... just had to do tight left hand turns to get her to make the first move..
