MY FB - How screwed am I?

Ok Guys - here we go, just got my car and received some bad news when we got it on the lift. Yes i bought it sight unseen from evilbay. I know you guys have seen some bad ones so let me know what you think.

Right rear sill outer!! holy crap thats a dodgy looking repair!

middle of same sill

left door - these are not so bad as I have spare doors

now the bad part, inside sill / subframe.

scary as its a major strength point in the car

Would you guys fix this? I've seen worse but I can't weld, so I'm going to have to pay someone to do it (getting a quote today) But wow, I knew the car was rough (kinda liked it that way)but its like frankensteins car. That being said I still really like it and would love to save it.

On a positive note, engine runs well, tailgate is fine and rust free, rear window seals look pretty good.

more negatives - entire inside painted with what appears to be green housepaint applied with a brush!!

Oh and these amazing repairs

As mini said, its all repairable. And as to weather you've been had or not depends on how much you paid for the car.

Alot more than I paid for it.

yeah bare metal, was always going to be an issue, but to be honest the plan was to do it in flat paint within 6 months. Rust issues were down played but at the end of the day its a case of "buyer beware".
Bummer for me now is that the cash i was going to use to paint it, will get sucked up in rust repairs to the subframe, but you all have been there I'm sure.
I'll tell you one thing, I'm thinking about doing a night course in mig welding!

I still love the car and would love to bring it back to its former glory so I guess stay tuned!

Mate, My suggestion.

Do a welding night course at tafe. Buy a Mig and give it a go.

Start somewhere inconspicuios or easy to hide, Like the floor and practice and practice and practice and practine.

seriously if you dig the "Rat" look its a great oppurtunity to try your hand at the body work as theres no shiny paint to ruin.

The FB is actually a great car there's no structural rust - just some aestethic work

Ok, what you are looking at is just the beginning of some serious repairs.
And it will get uglier the more you dig and remove the offending parts.

You should not feel to bad about it as I have seen some great looking cars with nice paint and trim that were major junkers with so much rust

For sure do a tec class on welding, but dont think that after a couple of nights at tec you will be able to tackle the repairs required.

I have seen more of these first time home attempts than I like to remember and have had to redo several.
And have seen some great home restored cars.
But after the owners had spent several years and a few cars learning the do's and donts.

I am in Beenleigh and if you want to bring it up to me for a look, I will give you my opinion on what is needed.
