Annies hydramatic special

Post by retro »

Well, as hidden as it has been the last few days of ownership has left my fb out in the patio, my utes rego plans on hold and my garage the place of once fb worship, converted to now an ek workshop.

This is what we recieved last week, a really clean ek, with some patina as mick would like to call it.

Stocked that i got it untouched, and almost ready for love, it was a genuine score that the last guy (wayne also), had already rebuilt the front end, replaced on gaurd, and already gotten the rubber kit.

I will update along the journey, as the wife wants shiney paint, and a few of the small dents repaired, so i decided to pull it apart, cheack it all for rust. So far, i have only one hole in the sill (as small as half a five cent piece) and same in the bottom drivers door. So i will be cutting this out, before it gets serious and welding two small plates.

Currently i have only prepaired the front panels for paint, with one weekend already spent on the two front gaurds, and toying around with the gearbox.

Good to see Annie's into FB/EK-ing Retro :D .

Looks to be an honest old girl ( car  ) and pretty straight.

You'll have to get Annie to join up and contribute to Lulu's girls post and swap some recipe's,nail filing techniques and how to choose what to wear in under an hour advice   ( ducks for cover as another frypan heads my way  ).

Welcome to the brotherhood ( in your case Annie, Sisterhood ) of FB/EK ownership.

Thanks guys and girls.

Ok to say the least, it came with all the parts and also enough touch up paint to repair the sections required. It also came with spares :x :x .

Terry, i told you its about as nice as your fb,if it were me id leave it, having that used car feel and look.

Im avioding anne using this forum, as its my place to complain, avoid nagging, and best of all avoid work. If she gets a look, id be taking terry's place with avoiding them pans.

It should be up and running in the next few weeks, if lack of work and weather permits.

Will keep them photos comming.

I love those "as found" cars that are simply re-registered after fixing up for rego with all their years of use still there for all to see :D .

All I did with my car was washed it ( only because it was covered with dust and birdshit and I couldn't see out the windscreen ) and other than lowering it's pretty much as found.

Although I would paint that right front guard Retro.

Yeah terry, your right about past glorys.

That right front gaurd was taken down to bare metal to see what was behind the undercoat..... to my surprise, i found no rust, just a bit of nikki over the wheel lip, where it seems to have had a slight scrape. All fixed and ready for paint now.

Looks like a nice project Retro. :D :D :D

I thought the greys were nice
I'm sure my original was a lighter shade of grey, but the interior was exactly the same. It was a manual not an auto.

Make it a nice one. Shiny paint ........

yeah it will be a six, a sweet cam in a grey motor, hyda crappy box and even a stock single spinner diff, i think that should keep her slower than my car, i dont her flying away from me on the freeways.

Oh and the colour, well original grey, well that will look better than the proof coat of coral its in now.
