Gauges

Post by J »

ok well i dno if i spelt it write but you get the idea

Ok so with the ugly radio which came with the ek, they were hanging below the dash - as shown here

Image

The stereo is going in the glovebox - so I figure it wont hurt to put the gauges in there also - people are telling me not to...

I was wondering, where do you guys have your gauges mounted? and if you dont have gauges how good are the original ones?

cheers

I have old style "period" chrome tripple gauges (Temp,Oil,Amps) mounted just under the dash in the middle.Thats where most blokes would mount the gauges in days gone by.

Mounting the gauges in the glovebox seems a bit silly to me.The gauges are there so you can tell how things are going in the engine bay.Closer they are to the driver the easier it is to tell.Way over in the glovebox makes it all so difficult.

The original ones wern't a gauge as such but just a warning light.

They are often referred to as "idiot" lights.
Basically, if your generator wasn't charging, engine was overheating or your oil pressure had dropped then the warning light would come on.

Any "idiot" should know to stop the car if the warning light come on.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

Theres always the Drag Racers methord of
hose clamping them onto the steering column

The old triple gauge pod under the dash
would be period perfect for our cars 8)

But if its a custom..........its up to you to create something

Just make sure you can see them at a glance, if you use them.

Cheers
