Differences in FB EK brake drums?

Post by hz308prem »

Hi all,

I have a pair of sedan rear drums at home, a guy wants to get them for the front of his EK panelvan, are these going to fit or do rears only fit rears and front drums only fit the front? Do comercials and sedans have different drums?

Thanks in advance

brake drums/shoes

Hi Peter,
I can't recall ever swapping front for rears.............
just had a look at the good book - it states the same size both in diameter and width for drums and shoes - it does not give separate specifications.....

Armed with that, I am guessing they are interchangeable........ others may have better info.....

frats,

Hi HZ,
As far as I know the only difference front to rear is that the wheel cylinders are a different size, I believe the drums are the same size.

Ive swapped mine in the past, front to back while trying to get a better braking acton with no problems.

I'd be interested to know about the difference between those with the ribbed cooling fins and the solid ones though? Which were standard on FB/EK? Are the ribbed ones any better at staying cooler?
