HR / HT Brake Caliper

Post by Malcolm »

Hey guys,

I'm helping a mate with putting front disc's on his HR and having problems with the overhaul kit that was supplied. It has been suggested that the calipers he bought were either HT/G/K and not HR, :x yet the inners piston rubbers fit but the outer dust seals don't. The old dust seals had a outer spring type retainer that holds them onto the caliper where as the new ones don't :?

Question: Is HR calipers the same as HT/G/K.

Hi Malcolm,
I went down this road a few years back when I wanted to fit Torana floating calipers and rotors to my HR front end.

I too, was under the (false) impression that HR were identical to HK/T/G calipers............ I now do not believe they are.

I am of the opinion that the rotor space within the caliper on the latter units is very marginally wider - I am also of the opinion that the thicker rotor can be fitted.
As to the components, the piston size I believe to be identical - boots associated hardware - I don't know.

If the latter caliper were able to utilise thicker rotors - I would opt that way.
But of course your question relates to differences........... sorry, just muttering again without being of any help.......

same,
i tried to fit late model girlok calipers but got disenchanted and in the last week decided to forget everything and fit something that had been engineered to fit...
