securing wires to body

hey team,

what have you used to attach the wires to the guards... i mean in the way of brackets, clips etc...

Hey Matty, I used the standard clips from inside the engine bay and reversed them to under the guards and ran the wires through there. But I'm sure you could go down to the auto parts store(you must be a shareholder by now)and find after market clips that take your fancy.

Hi Matty,

I used plastic cable clamps from the local Auto 1, which I screwed to the subframe rails just below the bottom of the inner guards sides so that you can't see screw threads in the engine bay.

If you want to get fancy Matty , you can purchase FHT corrugated conduit in 16 - 20mm. They also make a clip in single screw bracket which has a square flush appearance.

They will also have a host of couplers and fittings to pass thru metal etc.

Check out J R Turks or TLE Electrical suppliers.

Sorry mate , was late last night , its HFT (Heat and Fire Treated) conduit. You want it corrugated ( also known as flexible), Im not sure if they still make a 16mm but 20mm does exist for sure. Its ALWAYS black in colour.

Hi Matt

You can buy black "cable ties" other wise known as "zip ties" or "Q" straps . 'Leckos use millions of them on wiring harnesses in switchboards etc.
They make em nowadays with a round hole in one end so that you can fix the strap to the car by pop rivet or nut and bolt. mount as many as you need along under the gaurd.
To protect the wires from road muck , stones and grime run your wires through the flexible split conduit already mentioned on this thread. When you are happy that you have all the wires you want through the conduit secure the conduit to the car by wrapping the zip tie around the conduit. pull it tight and cut off the excess strap.
