Ordering from USA - Summit Racing

Post by Mephious »

Thought I would post up how happy I am with equipment I purchased from Summit Racing in America.

This is their site http://www.summitracing.com/

They also sell thru Ebay which is how I got the items I was after. The items were extremely well packed - Boxed individually inside main box with bubble wrap, air bags to fill gaps and then internal packaging within each of the inner boxes.

I purchased the items on the 28.08.2007 and they arrived today 04.09.2007 which I think is absolutely insane !! So quick !!

This is the third time I have purchased items from the US to use on the sedan, the speed of delivery and the saving vs buying locally is well worth the $100US to $200US postage cost, Ive come out well in front each time.

To gauge some of the savings I have managed buy purchasing straight from America heres a good example.

Hume Performance wanted $650 each for reconditioned 650cfm double pumpers in the standard copper finish. I was able to purchase brand new in the box ready to bolt on x2 600cfm boost reference supercharger carbs from america for $540 AUS each. These boost reference carbs were also in silver finish. Factoring $200USish ($250Aus) for postage, in my opinion was well worth it.

Hope this helps people to look at all possible avenues when purchasing gear. I love globalization .... no idea why all those hippies are whinging!!!

Hey guys,

I have also saved quiet a bit of money buying direct from USA
In Aust. Bob Jane quoted me $850.00 per rim for my 17inch Boyd Coddington wheels.
I bought them direct from a supplier in the US for a total of $1974.00 Au. for the set of 4.

Not quiet sure how they justify their pricing.

In my experience, Summit are excellent. The last thing I bought from them was a set of 4 Antique gauges...the parcel arrived within a week of payment being processed, packaged extremely well, with great communication re. the progress of the order.
Cost me about $100 cheaper than buying them through parts dealers here in Oz.
I'd use them again in a second.
Cheers, Scott

And their catalogue is great, especially as they feature a different car in each one. My boss gets them here at work so we read them before his brother gets them.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

I buy HEAPS of stuff from the USA- and the freight isnt much dearer than buying it from the Eastern states anyway... there isnt a lot of choice in Perth so a lot of gear comes ex east from the local boys.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.
