new (old) doorstrims... more cleaning

hey team,

i recently got some front FB red & white doortrims of ben on the forum, i spend my weekend cleaning again... they have come up ok... (could be better, but resonably ahppy with outcome)
i,ve wet the backs of them down, taken the armrest off & place them upside down on the floor with bricks on the back of them to straighten them out as much as i can.

but i cant seem to get rid this stain...


any tips what it may be & how to get it off... i've wash with warn sopy water, then jif & finished with the majic eraser... but its still there.

(faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark, i'm going to give them another clean next weekend)

you may have to spray them with coluor change

Is the stain on the front or from the back? If it's coming through from the back you may not be able to get rid of it.
There was a good post on the Torana forum about cleaning products, something called shift-it(?) was recommended.
I use white spirits to clean pen and wax pencil marks from vinyl, you should be able to get it from any decent hardware store, it's the same gear they use for Dry Cleaning.

jay, what is "colour change", is it like spray paint for vinyl... where do you get it & how durable is it...

stinky, shift - it, is it sold at auto palces or is it a supermaket thing...

i have some under the sink... but i was cautious in using it.

have you use it yourself on trim...

I think i mentioned the interior spray to you at ahd, its easy, cheap, and amazing that the bloomin thing sticks well.

My ek in which is just going to be restored as a basic cruiser has this stuff made by Motor Spray, its called vinyl spray, bout $12 a can, but the downfall is it may not be the same red your factory door trims.

Simply clean the section with thinners, tape up the panel, and apply in an even fashion. Worked well in my car, but dont apply to wet as she will streak.

i'll give it ago, hopefully on monday when i go to auto-one or super cheap auto...

i'll do a test on some old trim first...

yes you did mention it at AHD, (f@#K you've got a good memory) you told me to use thinners on the seats and respray them... you said that you had done it & it came up nice...

i'll let you know after the weekend
