(fastjbav6) 14.000 mile FB Standard

Post by ekvan »

[G'Day all,
I just purchased an FB Standard Sedan.
1st owner got it new in OCT 1960. Drove it until 1976 and sold it with 6,000 miles on the clock to her next door neighbour.
2nd owner had the odometer reading at 13,207 miles by NOV 1982 when it was shown at the Mundairing Holden Show.
It was then shown at the 50th Holden Anniversary 1998 GM Owners Day Car Show in Perth 16 years latter showing 13,500 miles.
I purchased the FB off this chap on Thursday and the odometer clicked over to 14,000 miles as i drove it out of his drive.
The interior and underside floor pan can only be described as new.
Its all PURE STEEL under there. No black paint or spray on tar.
Original tyres, log and service book and a Scientific Publications workshop manual all in mint/excellant condition.
This car has always been registered with the original plates.
Believe it or not this FB still has that new car smell.
Oh what a feeling, what a rare find.

Cheers Seb

Seb, how many miles on the clock now?
Have you had the pleasure of driving it or is it just to good for that?

I've only done 360 miles and enjoyed every mile of it.
I think it's the closest I'll ever get to driving an old classic to as new condition without completely restoring one.
Driving with the original cross ply tyres can be challenging but you can "only drive as fast as your angels can fly".

That is priceless  . How the hell do you only put 360 miles on in 2 years   you would need a shed full (like Steve and the Family    ) so you didn't wear it out.... 8) 8)
