Cardboard thingy inner firewall?

Post by thropzed »

Howdy, Just wondering, What is the importance of keeping that thingy on the inner firewall, as mine is shedding all over my carpet and it doesn't vacum up very well. Can I just remove it? Does it have a purpose? Any help would be great.

There only fitted as a noise barrier to quiten things down in the engine bay, so you can't here them knocks in the old GREY motor.
Remove it and fit foam liner or carpet insulation.

you might also find that the cabin temps will be a bit higher too as i believe it is supposed to supress some of the heat from the engine bay ....
having said that, if its falling apart theres a fair chance its probably not doing a great deal as it is :)
