Heya guys
Fitted up the a warmaride heater today. All went smoothly.
But I cannot get the rear plug out of the cylinder head so that I can fit the brass fitting for the hose.
I soaked in wd40 and hammered over an impact socket - even my massively powerful Milwaukee rattle gun can't shift it and the socket slips. The bolt is starting to round so I am going to leave it alone. I also tried a bit of heat but nothing.
So any tips for how to get this bastard out? Or any Perth guys know a workshop with the tools to get the job done??? Prefer to hand it to someone else as I am pretty sure I have exhausted my capabilities.
Thanks
Dan

Re: Stuck cylinder head water tap bolt
G'day Dan,
WD40 is not a great penetrant (though is good for squeaky door hinges
). You might get better results with automatic transmission fluid, or a 50/50 ATF/acetone mix.
If you're handy with a welder, weld a bolt onto the top of the stuck plug. The heat help unstick the plug, and the new bolt gives you something to grip.
Cheers,
Harv

Thanks Harv. As its a hydra I have plenty of atf on tap and will start soaking.
I might see if I can get a double square socket and have one last try. If that doesn't work I will take it to a workshop with the right know how and a welder

Re: Stuck cylinder head water tap bolt
what did you heat it up with out of curiosity? What are we calling a bit of heat?I also tried a bit of heat but nothing
Re: Stuck cylinder head water tap bolt
A very lame effort with my benzomatic plumbers torch. It ran out of gas anyway. So realistically stuff all heat!

Turns out that a plumbers wrench was the tool of choice
