Removing Points

Post by paperboy »

I tried to change my points today, but they seem to be locked into place by a brass pivot pin, how do I remove the pin? The workshop manual says to remove the split pin, but mine didn't have any split pin.
Please help.
Thank you

You have to remove the bottom piece that the pin is attached to. There is a screw that holds the complete points assembly the breaker plate. The points are two piece i.e. arm with rubbing block and the pivot pin attached to its base. The base is screwed to the breaker plate.
