G'Day
Cleaned all connections Bare metal contacts on all terminals
I've bench tested the starter Test motor and test Solenoid
12V to starter Tested
The starter wants to turn but it is very slow then stops
I have a LUCAS 52067A M35G Starter Motor, now, this item was made in england because there is a stamp on it that says so!? yet, I cannot find this part number in any of the documents that I have manage to find that have a comprehensive list of lucas starter motors.
Does anyone know of compatible replacement models that would suit a rebuild, brushes and possibly an armature (commutator worn too far I think)
I did the same search for the BOSCH EED 08/27R with the same result
I'm not paying $450 for a recoed one on EBAY
Cheers

Re: PICS - Repairable?
Took some pics to confirm or ar least indicate the possible fault!
The brushes have uneven wear lengths and the shorter ones had less spring pressure on them as well
The commutator definitely has a wear profile developed over years.
I could probably source the brushes from somewhere, as far as the commutator is concerned, is it too far gone for repair?
Cheers

Re: Starter Motor Gurus
Methinks you've got a bog-stock FB/EK starter. M35G is a pretty common Lucas starter (eg for Triumph), and was standard for FB/EK (Lucas MG35G or Bosch EEDO.812 R37... the other grey motors used Bosch only from what I remember). The specific Lucas model numbers seem to start with an "L" prefix (eg the TR250 MG35G starter is LU25022 and LU25079) rather than 52067A.Lex68 wrote:I have a LUCAS 52067A M35G Starter Motor, now, this item was made in england because there is a stamp on it that says so!? yet, I cannot find this part number in any of the documents that I have manage to find that have a comprehensive list of lucas starter motors.

Google says that 52067A is an obsolete Lucas (Prince of Darkness) part number for the side lamp (bulb) used in 1940-1960's Pommie cars (like Humbers). c

Harv, you would appreciate this one.
Do you know why the British drink warm beer ? Because Lucas made their fridges.

Kinda like the Lucas three position switch - Dim, Flicker and Off.

Re: PICS - Repairable?
Lex depending on wear tolerances you may be able to get the commutator machined and then under cut between the segments. If you've got a lathe you could do it yourself.Lex68 wrote:Took some pics to confirm or ar least indicate the possible fault!

They are pretty robust, I just linish ém with some sandpaper and undercut ém with a cut down hacksaw blade.Dont use emery paper though .

Re: Starter Motor Gurus
Found another armature that needs only a bit of TLC, I'll give that a crack with new brushes.
