Hi all,
Can anyone provide me with a measurement between the front of the standard fan and the rear of a standard radiator on an FB? I am contemplating an aluminium radiator which is about 10mm thicker than standard - I don't want the fan to foul on the radiator obviously.
Thanks,
Matt
measure between fan and standard radiator needed please
Re: measure between fan and standard radiator needed please
Just a word of warning. Do not buy the cheap alloy radiators of eBay. Hearing some really bad things about them and there lifespan. One of the local radiator repairers showed me how cheap he can get them for then told me how he then had to replace them a year later as they were stuffed....

Re: measure between fan and standard radiator needed please
Thanks for the tip Devilrod - in fact it was Ebay I was considering. The one I was looking says FX-FE but has the same measurements as my standard one except the width. On Ebay there are many suppliers that have the same photo - the one I have been in contact with is a seller called corvette299. Anyone have experience with them? He says he is based in Melbourne, but the radiators come from China.
Alarm bells are ringing, but not so loudly that I would not be interested in what others think. The car will be one day a month not daily drive car, and I kinda liked the alloy look but not if it lets go within a year!

I've just been through the fun of getting a new radiator in my hot rod, no change from $600 but that was scratch built to suit. But the same guy built my EK one (3 core ht radiator), it doesn't run hot in 40+ degrees and that was in front of a very tired 161. With no shroud an engine fan and a 180 thermostat. Three years on from when he first built it. His words were, the new one in my hot rod will outlast any alloy version and work better. So far so good.
Those alloy ones wholesale are lucky to cost more than $50. I saw the list and an Audi one was $16! Remember you get what you pay for......
