Triple SU's and recond grey motor

hello all

Any help with this dilemma will be greatly appreciated.

Picture this:
an FB
- Worked and reconditioned 138 grey motor(Not even run in yet).
-Rebuilt triple SU carbies on a NOS manifold
-Brand new mini starter
-Thermo fan
-New fuel pump
-Rebuilt radiator
-New battery
-New grey spark plug leads, new spark plugs
-Rebuilt dizzy
-All wiring which needed replacing has been and wrapped in the original style
-Extractors,

The bloke now tells me this car wont start because the SU's aren't set up and they need tuning before it will start and he doesn't know how to do it.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

Does this sound feasible? I have no experience with SU's let alone three of the untuned little blighters bolted on to a grey that hasn't been run in yet.

Everything else seems legitimate but I just don't know about this one.
Will a set of reconditioned/ untuned set of triple SU's cause enough trouble to prevent a start up?

Very well could.

Fiddly buggers them SU's though you would think you would get some sort of bang/backfire from them even if they just slapped on.

You would be best to get the engine running on a "normal" carby and after all is sorted and running well have an experienced carburettor spanner man set the triples up. (Expect to put with some cash!)

You are quick to answer my queries. I appreciate that.
Part of my prob is not being able to see the car for myself. It is in Perth and I am in Bris. it's that blue or teal/white one that was on ebay - see "very tempting" thread under 'for sale'.

I will call the mechanic who did the work on it tomorrow and see if he can explain away the issue. As long as I know it's feasible , that's a start.

they are pretty easy to tune up all u need is a piece of hose and u tune them by sound adjust them till they all sound the same or a stethescope thats the old bushy way
