Wayne With A '61 EK Holden

Post by WayneXG95 »

Ladies and Gentlemen. Meet Milkshakes garage mate "Blueberry"

I had tried to keep this rebuild quiet but got sprung at Rares and then someone spotted it at the auto electrician so the cat was out of the bag.
I was getting harassed at club meetings and never confirmed it but ya can't keep things from this lot..

I was aiming for the Nats but maybe the All Holden Day this year... 8)

I saw an ad to sell a EK Sedan on Gumtree to sell a stalled project a while back and went to check it out, solid body and most chrome work done
abet not the best chrome but done regardless. I agreed to buy it at the right price and with some help from old mate "Rustydungers"
we trailer it to Rusty's place to work on it... :esmile:

Interesting story on this car, I had done a check on that new revs site the federal Government now has and it come up as never registered?
Mmmm interesting. So I went to the RTA and had it checked, No, it's ok we have all its history and there's no problem with the car.
I later found out with some research that this particular EK was sold where I live at Camden NSW new! (Hey that's were I live).. :D

Well hang on a minute there's no GMH Dealer in Camden? And never was. (Or so I thought).
A little more research on that Trove site shows they had old Camden newspapers and where this EK was sold new was a GM Dealer.
Oldsmobile - Pontiac - Buick... 8)

Must have been a flood when this pic was taken?

It was our local Toyota Dealer Clintons Campbelltown who was the GM Dealer back then or so their Ad shows in the newspaper.

Gets more interesting as we dig deeper, I was discussing this over a family dinner and my Son In Law pops up and say's that’s my building!
Huh?. Yeah I have an old pic in my office of the original building. Bugger me!...
My SIL happens to be part owner of Combined Real Estate at Camden were this building is.

Image
So here's a pic taken yesterday of the same building.

Ok so I buy this EK that has been sitting in a backyard in Blacktown for many years and was in a shed at Teresa Park when I brought it.
So this old girl has now come home!. How cool is that?...

The plan as it stands is to make this old girl into a cruiser from the day.

A few issues have slipped by, I had intended to have her painted Warwick Yellow with a white roof but that got slammed when Rusty
Pointed out the tag numbers were Shalimar and Strata Blue which we know is quite rare so I decided to go with that.

The Hydamatic is to go replaced with the old crashbox. Dropped 2 inches, duel exhaust with Chevy drops in the back.
rebuilt triple stromies (which I picked up from Fingers)on the rebuild gray and extractors and as I'm running an alternator, a stronger wiring harness.

Here's some pics from the previus owner when the EK was at Blacktown.

The triplies waiting to go on the donk!

More to come...

She's nowhere near finished yet but here's a little teaser to keep ya all interested..

Awesome!!
Looking forward to seeing it come to life :)
Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and
oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital
ingredient in beer

Hey Wayne, that is a good pick up. Look forward to seeing more pics of your progress. What else have you got stashed in the shed?

Jay the interior is to be done in Viscount & Zenith Blue with Stardust Gray Bolsters..
I had the matching material imported from the states, used SMS Interiors the same company that Craig used and they matched the swatch samples we sent perfectly!..
I'll put more on that in another thread later..But you can import the correct material with pattern for FB and EK's now..
You can also import the excact headlining for the roof with random star pattern..around $395 landed
I got mine after Craig got his and it should go in in the next 2 weeks.
