I spent 4 years in Sydney Town when I was a young fella ( miss spent youth ) . There is a place called Weenie Beach on the bay side of the Cronulla sand hills . When the tide is low it is a hell of a place to cut loose getting towed behind cars while sitting in FJ bonnets . I recall one weekend when a 307 HK Monaro ( near new back in 1970 )was running amok and lost it, he went into the drink for about 20 foot or so and then there was a ledge which the front half of the car dropped into . Had water up to his back seat . Someone managed to tow him out with the help many, one of his mates on a bike went for some oil , they dropped it there on the sand added and new oil . Can't remember what they did Carby wise etc , but he did drive it home . Can only imagine how long that car lasted .

I was up at taree the day before we went racing. We were testing our boats. Two guys came down in a hilux for a look. While they were at the shore the hilux rolled past us straight into the manning river. The current quickly took it and it floated for ages. We managed to tow it back in.
The best bit was the guys worked at the local car yard and they had borrowed it off the lot.
Ive got some pics somewhere. Ill see if I can find them.
