fb door trim question

Post by bootlegger »

Ive sent my seat and door trims for my fb sydney county council ute away to be redone.
Door door trims are being recarded. My trimmer calls me up and says the door trims that i have supplied are significantly smaller than the cards he bought.
He turned up today with the new cards and my old trims and there seems to be two sizes of trims.
The smaller one doesnt even line up with the clip holes but they do line up with the doors they came off. These arent the doors i am using on the ute. Has anyone ever seen this before. There is about 25mm difference.
I have a decent rh trim the right size. Does anyone out there have a decent lh fb standard trim. Im not worried about the backing board.

I'm just picturing this. I might be off the mark, but the thing about the alignment between the holes in the cards and the holes in the doors sounds like you aren't allowing for the fact the card clips attach to the card and the sticky out bit ends up to one side ( usually the outer side) of the hole in the card. If it wasn't freezing outside I'd use a photo to explain. Otherwise, I have a pair of good boards I used as a stencil for my FB which are a perfect fit.

I know its confusing. When the trimmer rang me i told him that the trims must have shrunk. When he showed up with them i couldnt believe how much smaller they were. Even the radius at the front is slightly different.

The trims are still on the backing boards. They are a different size.

I sent the trimmer away with them and said do what you can with them.
If a left handed one turns up any colour they are yours.
I stripped the seat down and had it sand blasted. Hopefully it comes back looking good with recycled trim on it.

Yeah stewart i pulled them off rusty ute doors.
I didnt believe the trimmer when he rang me. He thought maybe ute and sedan were different.
The repo door cards are a spot on copy.
This car is next on the list after the eh. I just hope ive got enough money to do it as well.
This van project is sucking me dry.
