air conditioning

Post by the rocket »

Hi All

Wondering if anyone has installed an air conditioning unit to an ek/fb. My wife wants ac to be fitted (coming out of her budget :P ) and I"m thinking about those vintage air units or any other sort if any body has attempted it. I"d like something under dash as much as possible.

Any ideas would be appreciated. thanks Rick.

I'm still in building phase however I managed to get a vintage air unit up under the dash (behind the glovebox... so no glovebox) but will then be forming a panel to bolt under the dash the length of it to house air vents, additional gauges, switches, stereo etc...

then its a matter of fitting a compressor to your engine (and all the other bits)... depends what you are running.

I'm my case a Red 6, managed to track down and old Blue Motor bracket, which sits the compressor under the alternator (moves to alternator up), which was then modified to give me as much room as possible from the chassis rail (which also had the lip cut off and welded up... thank ben for all info on sorting this out)... i'll try and get photos next time I'm working on it.

Cheers

Thanks Nathan, Does your unit run the heater as well or just a/c? Does it run a cable to operate? I"m running a chev V8. Any pic's would be great and part numbers if you have any.

Thanks Rick.
