Mk1 Cooper S

Post by strogger »

I Started off small in my first project.

Bought this Mk1 Morris Copper S back when they were still affordable.
Was a lovely shade of powder blue with a matt black roof. :?

I spent a lot of weekends getting the car to look as fast as it went.

I had the engine bored from 1275cc out to 1310cc, top speed was past the 120MPH on the speedo round to the F for full on the fuel gauge.

I have very few photo's of when i owned the car. Sold it soon after i started my apprenticeship, Girls liked V8 commodores rather than smelly old mini's. and i needed all the help i could get,

But surprisingly.

I found the car 10 years after i sold it. heres a picture of the After.
Was a bit rugged. But deffienatly the same car. It really is a small world when it comes to cars.

Mate of mine had one straight out of school... was many a friday night we'd win the stoplight drags on Parramatta rd! :D

I was building a HK Monaro at the time and everything I bought would cost poor ol' Frank twice as much for the equivalent for the Mini......

Good fun and always a solid bet at the stop light grand prix. :D

Also a great car for Burnouts, handbrake turns and any kind of car based hooning you'd care to indulge in. Not that i would ever partake in an illegal and careless driving event.

Yeah Mini's are fun. My first one was an 80 buck special! Once the ground up rebuild was done I found it great fun terrorizing my mates who didn't have a licence by driving down the footpath and chasing them on their bikes....
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

Guys,

I race a Studebaker with a very potent 283 chev engine but I do struggle against the minis!
They corner and have excellent average speed. Top car but I'de never own one cause Im too stupid and love burning millions of dollars in fuel and tyres!

Regards Greg
So many cars so little time!
